An authentic story

Recent excavations on the grounds of Château Les Preyres have revealed some fascinating remains. Archaeologists uncovered a wine farm dating back to the Gallo-Roman era, including the remains of a wine press and a chamber of Doliums (jars). This historical heritage bears witness to the region’s long tradition of winemaking.

Much later, in the 19th century, the estate became the property of Ferdinand Joseph Marie de Felix, Marquis du Muy, who built his home here.

Much later, in the 2000s, Sylvain Massa, a lover of the authenticity and history of the area, acquired the estate and decided to preserve its heritage. He renovated and extended the existing building.

He planted nearly 8 hectares of vines and created the first rosé cuvée “Château les Preyres” in 2016.

In 2024, the first amphora-aged cuvée was presented to the public: La Massa_Lia.

Rich soils ideal for viticulture

Situated on the west coast of the Permian Depression, bordered by the Maures massif and the first limestone heights, Château Les Preyres enjoys ideal conditions for viticulture. Certified organic, the estate boasts some ten hectares of vines, harvested by hand each year.
Grape varieties grown include Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Rolle. These grapes are blended and vinified by a team of enthusiasts who perpetuate the know-how of Vignobles Massa, creating exceptional cuvées.

Organic wines in AOP Côtes de Provence

The Château Les Preyres range in AOP Côtes de Provence

After a first rosé vintage in 2016 blended with Syrah and Grenache, Sylvain Massa has created a single-varietal Rolle (Vermentino) white.

Produced under theCôtes de Provence Protected Designation of Origin, these wines are characterized by the exceptional aromatic intensity of the estate’s terroir. Indeed, the sandy soil of Château Les Preyres allows natural drainage of water, which concentrates the aromas contained in the grapes, ensuring elegance, fatness and voluptuousness to the juices once transformed.

The Massa_Lia cuvée, wines in amphora

The Massa_Lia range, aged for several months in amphorae, echoes the estate’s long history. The naturally porous terracotta amphoras improve oxygenation and soften tannins. This neutral container enhances the aromatic purity of the grape varieties, making the wines more honest and unadulterated.

Available in red, rosé and white, the Massa_Lia cuvée is characterized by a unique taste profile, combining freshness and fruitiness. These modern wines are very different from their contemporaries, offering a whole new tasting experience.
